Deadline for Europa Uomo’s prostate cancer patient survey nears
Nearly 500 prostate cancer patients have completed Europa Uomo’s new survey on shared decision making – but we are making an urgent appeal for more responses before the survey closes on 31st December.
The EU-PRESS survey forms the basis of a major new study examining how much prostate cancer patients are involved in decisions about their treatment after diagnosis. It will also try to discover whether quality of life is better in men who have been involved in decisions about their treatment.
“The study asks important questions,” says Guenther Carl, Europa Uomo Chair. “The more responses we get, the greater significance the study will have. A strong study will provide the basis for bringing meaningful change in the way patients are involved at this crucial juncture in their cancer journey.”
So far, the majority of responses have come from just three countries: Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
“We urgently need more people to respond, and in particular from countries that have up until now provided few returns, so that study has a good geographical spread,” said Guenther Carl. “We urge men who have been treated for prostate cancer to complete the survey before the end of the year, and for prostate cancer organisations to do all they can to provide publicity.”
