Contribution of Europa Uomo’s Vice Chairman recognised by urologists
Europa Uomo's Vice Chairman Erik Briers has received the European Association of Urology’s Patient Advocacy Medal of Excellence at the EAU Congress in Paris.
Presenting him with the award at the congress opening ceremony, EAU Secretary General Arnulf Stenzl said that Erik Briers had been a long-time member of EAU prostate cancer guideline group and an “invaluable discussant at many many meetings”.
Erik Briers, who was one of the founders of Europa Uomo 20 years ago, thanked “the many patients who tell me their stories of their journeys in prostate cancer”; Europa Uomo which had nominated him for the award; and former EAU Secretary General Hein Van Poppel, who treated him for prostate cancer in 2001 and by asking him to help with the formation of Europa Uomo “launched me into advocacy”.
