Firefighters help raise awareness of prostate cancer and the need for early detection

Firefighters helped members of Europa Uomo Slovakia deliver messages about prostate cancer awareness and early detection at a Movember event which attracted national television coverage.

The media event, held in a fire station, was supported by the Slovak Urological Society and attended by Hein Van Poppel, Chairman of Europa Uomo’s Scientific Committee. Professor Van Poppel is pictured (second left) trying on Movember moustaches with representatives of Europa Uomo Slovakia and the Slovak Urological Society.

“A report of the event, supplemented by additional shots about prostate cancer and the importance of prevention, was broadcast on STVR public television in the main news,” says Josef Blazek, President of Europa Uomo Slovakia.

“The importance of this year's event was enhanced by the presence of Professor Van Poppel, who gave a speech to participants and then also for television.”
